Privacy.

Backroom is built to know as little about you as possible. Here is exactly what it keeps.

What we store

·An account id, created automatically the first time you post, vote or chat. It is never shown to anyone.
·What you post: titles, descriptions, replies, votes and reports. Anonymous posts are stored with your account id, but that id is never sent to other users. They only see “Anonymous” or #1, #2 in a thread.
·Your profile, only if you create one: handle, name, bio, avatar, skills, projects and links you choose to add.
·If you log in with X: your X handle, name and profile picture (used to set up your profile, which you can edit), and the email address X shares with us. The email is used only for your login. It is never shown on the site.

·Chats are end-to-end encrypted in your browser. We store only encrypted text and cannot read your messages.
·Contact details you swap in a chat (Telegram etc.) are encrypted the same way, and only revealed when both sides share.
·Your encryption keys live in your browser (IndexedDB) and never leave your device. Clearing site data removes them, and old chats can then no longer be opened on that device.

·No ads, no tracking pixels, no cookies for tracking, no selling or sharing your data.
·We count visits with Vercel Web Analytics: cookieless, aggregate numbers (pages viewed, country, device type). It can't follow you between sites or identify you, and chat pages are counted without their id.
·No wallets, no payments. Backroom never holds money.

·Supabase hosts the database and logins. Vercel hosts the website. Like any web host, they may keep short-lived technical logs such as IP addresses.
·X, only if you choose to log in with it.

·Post anonymously or as your profile, per post. You can edit or remove your profile at any time.
·To delete your account and everything tied to it, message @backroom on X from the account you want deleted, or from inside Backroom.
